5 Useful Ubuntu Apps for Beginners

Appnr
I believe that Appnr is a must have on every Ubuntu system as many people find command line installation a bit confusing and foe those guys Appnr is just the right thing. Also, if you have just started using Ubuntu I highly recommend this program is it makes the installation process drastically simpler. It also has more functions over the default program and you can easily browse through various programs and install them with ease. The command for installing Appnr from terminal is
sudo apt-get install apturlRhythmBox
There is always the option for VLC however, I prefer RhythmBox for listening to music as it actually is a bit more user friend than VLC and it also the default music player for Ubuntu. It features an audio library, podcast support and native Last.fm song submission. It also features torrent support which makes this application a really sweet deal. To install RhythmBox from terminal run the following command
sudo aptitude install rythmboxRelated: Install and Run EXE Files in Linux.
Open Office
Another fantastic and must have application on your Ubuntu system. Open Office is the open source alternative to Microsoft Office. It has very similar functions to Microsoft Office and the interface is quite similar which makes it a really great office program. Integrate Open Office in your Ubuntu .
Raw Therapee
This is a really brilliant and powerful image processor which will help you do a lot of things to your photos. A really good photo editing software for photographers and it has really brilliant options for .raw images. Firefox
Well, there is no doubt that this is one of the best web browsers available and yes you can also get it on Ubuntu. It has a vast number of add-ons and plug-ins which makes it a really brilliant browser on various platforms. To install run the following command in terminal
sudo aptitude install firefox-3.6
