How To Access Facebook When it is Blocked in School College Or Office
Did you try to access Facebook when you are in school, college or office? You must found that you are blocked when you are trying to access them, mainly the social networking sites. Most of the organizations block social networking websites to prevent people from getting access to Facebook, Orkut etc. where people spent a lot of time. If you are addicted in Facebook or Orkut like me then you must have tried some methods to get access to those blocked websites.
But don’t worry! Numbers of solutions from geeks are available to access the blocked websites. I’ll describe how to open Facebook when it is blocked.
But for your knowledge, I want to say how the administrator of the network system blocks the Facebook, Orkut or any other sites? The urls of the website, you generally type in the address bar are originally an IP address. Every website has an unique IP*. So when you browse any website typing the website URL, computer matches the URL name with its IP address. This job is done by the DNS server. DNS server is a computer, registered with the network which keeps the data of all the websites and corresponding IP addresses. So if any body blocks the IP address in DNS server then all the client of that DNS server won’t have the access that website.
* In a shared server, same IP address is shared by more than one website. But the big and popular sites like Facebook, Orkut etc. have their own unique IP’s.
Here the tricks plays. The Facebook, Orkut are blocked in your office or college because the administrator has blocked that site in the DNS server. So now you can easily imagine that what I’m going to do.
How to open Facebook when it is blocked in your office or school
To unblock the site you can use another DNS server. It is quite easy. You can use OpenDNS servers or Google Public DNS servers. If you are using Windows then go to Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections and then right-click on connection status icon which you are using to access internet. Now chose “Properties” and then Internet Protocol(TCP/IP). Put any one of the following values in the DNS server address
OpenDNS server address:
208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220
Google DNS server address:
8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4
Make sure that your institution or office is not using the DNS server which you going to use. Once you changed the DNS server you can access Facebook, Orkut or any other websites you want. More Tips on accessing Facebook if blocked
Most of the schools, colleges or offices keep Facebook blocked so that the students or employees can not open Facebook.com from there. But still you can access Facebook in schools or offices by using some alternative ways. Here is the workarounds on how to access Facebook when blocked in school or office. It is not obvious that all of the followings will work for you. But, I’m sure that any of them will work and you can enjoy browsing Facebook as well as you can log into your Facebook account.
Open Facebook when blocked using IP address
Some time the admin of your current computer may apply a little trick in the Windows hosts file to block Facebook in it. He adds the website domain name to the block list in that file. In this case, you can reach Facebook by the IP address instead of the domain address. Putting IP address in your browser directly, will bypass the barricade of host file. You can get the IP address by pinging Facebook.com from your computer. To do so, Press Win + R key to open the Run command box. Put the following command and hit Enter.
ping facebook.com -t
This will open a command prompt and it will show the IP address of Facebook.com.
Often, chances are that the command prompt is disabled for the current user. In such situation, try to find the Facebook address from this web tool. Once you go to that website, just type facebook.com at where they ask to put it and click on Get IP.
Once you get the IP address, put that in your browser address bar and hit Enter. The Facebook should open.
Use Shortened URLs to access Facebook if Blocked
In many situation, the Facebook site URL may be banned for you. In such a case, you can use a shortened URL to bypass the ban and then you will be redirected to the original site URL of Facebook. You can use some URL shortening service like goo.gl or bit.ly.
Use Proxy Websites to open Facebook if blocked
Proxy websites can be used to open blocked urls in your computer. But generally, this website are also blocked in school, colleges or office. Therefore this tricks may not sound much. But you can try some proxy sites if they work for you.
Open Facebook via Secure Web Proxy
It is the easiest way to access Facebook if blocked in your school, college or office. One of such working website is http://www.securitales.com. The best side of this website is that it won’t ask you to install any application in your computer and even it supports the Facebook chat, photo uploading etc. The website is totally secured for you as it uses the HTTPS protocol. Though it lets you to use their service only 10 minutes for a free trial, you can give this a try as it does not charge too much.
Access or Login Facebook using Google Public/Open servers
Using a different DNS server for your internet connection can make you to open blocked websites. Going for different DNS server can let you to login to Facebook if it is blocked at your work place. You can also try the DNS servers to access blocked websites in your computer.
Use Opera Mini browser to access blocked Facebook
If nothing of the above works for you, then try the Opera Mini browser to open the Facebook with its mobile version. Simply, go to the Opera mini demo link in your browser and try the mobile version of Facebook.
The address for the Facebook mobile version is http://m.facebook.com. The above methods are enough to access Facebook if blocked. You can also login to your Facebook account thereby. But if you are still facing problems with opening Facebook, you can stay connected with Facebook from your email account.
Access Facebook from your email account
Facebook allows you to choose which updates do you want to get as notification in your email account. Once you set your Facebook account to receive notifications in your email account, you can then monitor the activities of your Facebook account if it is blocked at your school. Log-in to your Facebook account and go to Account > Account Settings.
In the Notification tab you can manage your notifications. Now the notification message will be sent to your email id. Whenever you get that message in your inbox, just open it, click on the link which indicates the option to reply the message. You are done!

Although, there is a downside…
1.] Nearly all workplace and offices will monitor your actions. They will record everything you do. So, if you try to mess around with the DNS, then you are in big trouble. Even worse… you are going to get booted! So, my advice is: don’t break the rules!
2.] College and University will record you for using proxies and many other things. Therefore, you better stay alert and don’t do anything crazy! Breaking the rules will result in a ban or account termination from the admin.

Get a VPN service, it`s the easiest way. I`m using highspeedvpn.com right now,it gets past all Internet filters and it works far better than a proxy.

The best way to view Facebook at school or work is through email, using an app on your home PC called ControlByMail at http://www.vic2pc.com, because you don’t have to worry about proxies not working or firewalls to bypass. You can even email exe files (like games) from your home PC to yourself, and control your home PC remotely.

i have tried all of these methods, but unfortunately the school computers at my school are really smart. i just tried facebook mobile, and it worked! but then i tried to reply to a message,and all of a sudden it was blocked. i had already added facebook mobile to my favorites, but now i cany even get on there from my favs. every time i findy a way to get on facebook,and i succeed, the computer blocks it so i cant get on that way again. i got on from vevo.com,but i could only get on from there once.im stuck!!! please, some one help me!!!!
If they are blocking through Barracuda, as they do at my school.just type in https://www. website ].com. This does not get you past Barracuda for ALL sites! But, it does work for youtube and some others. Also if you are accessing the internet through a tablet or ipod, ( for idevices) just simply go into settings<wifi<click on arrow next to wifi you are using. Then scroll down to DNS and delete the whole combo of numbers and input 8.8.8.8 this will put you through google's DNS and allow you to access ANY SITE and pass ANY BLOCKING WIFI SOFTWARE if it is the DNS that is causing the problem. You should be sure to go into private browsing or delete BOTH history and cookies to insure you will not be caught.

If you’re still going through their switches, you can still be caught. Some ways are easier than others, and sometimes it’s just up to how thorough the net admin wants to be or how much pressure is on them to bring the hammer down.
Say you change the DNS. OK, well, if the school/office (I will pretend to be them for these examples out of simplicity) has their own domain controller that hosts the OpenDNS, then I would already have a listing of all machines and where they hit the switches. If the machine doesn’t report in to the DNS but is on the domain and on, then I already know something fishy is up.
I can also run a packet sniffer, which will tell me where the data is going and where it’s being routed to on any of the switches. Since “private browsing” doesn’t encrypt anything but only deletes local content; I can parse through the packets, match the port on the switch that corresponds to your location and verify your log into that station with Active Directory (or it’s equivalents on Unix/Linux boxes). Got you there.
If you go through an encryption process like a VPN, I may not be able to read the contents of the packets, but I will be able to notice a pattern (especially if this is an “assigned” computer to you), and would be able to install either keystroke recording or screen capture software. Combine that with the evidence I already have (log in logs, security cameras, ect ect), and I have all I need to get your privileges revoked or employment terminated.

So my school is extremely stupid. I can easily get past the school blocking, I have all the teacher’s passwords. Unfortunately now when I go onto Facebook, Youtube etc. It doesn’t even have the regular blocked and log in thing. It says ” blocked request; Policy violation.” and I can’t even get on at home anymore. It’s not just the school’s Wifi, it’s in everyone’s computer’s and I don’t know how to get around it. HELP
