Use Digsby As Multiple Instant Messaging Protocol

Many of us have numbers of email accounts and those are distributed in many people for different purpose. But you are allowed to open one email account at a time in the browsers like Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome etc. So you have to check your mail box one by one for new mails.

It is a time-consuming way to open each mailbox every time typing the user id and the password. But Digsby has a vast space that provides you to gather all your Email accounts in one place and the instant notification of any new incoming mail.

Digsby also supports various IM account to login at a time and you can chat with different instant messaging id at the same time. Suppose you have two Gmail accounts, two Hotmail accounts and two Yahoo accounts. In Gtalk you can sign in with only one Gmail account. But you want to chat with a different friend from the other account.

Generally it is not supported by Gtalk. Again if you have a friend with yahoo id then you have logged in in the yahoo messenger with one Yahoo account  and the other yahoo account will remain inactive. But by Digsby you can sign in from all the IM id. You can add any number of IM account,Email account.

Digsby is a proprietary multi protocol instant messaging application which have developed by dotSyntax, LLC  written in wxPython and  Webkit has been for rendering.Digsby supports most of the IM protocol like AIM, Yahoo, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber and Facebook chat. Digsby  supports alerts from Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and Linkedln.

Digsby also allows to add the social networks in the application.You can add Twitter,Facebook,MySpace and Linkedln in this application.

Digsby was released in March 2008 and in still Beta stage. It was started as a school project of Steve Shapiro. Later he decided to materialize the project into an actual application. The name Digsby was thought for easy to remember and spell something that sounded like fun.

Procedure

Download Digsby from the official website. After downloading the setup file you have to register in the time of installation. After installation you can add your IM accounts and the Email accounts in Digsby.

You can customize the buddy list by re-arranging of all aspects of it and skinning it for a personalized look. Users can set custom notifications for various actions such as contacts signing in and out, messages sent and received, etc. It is meta-contacts supported and the drag-and-drop system  allows a user to have one alias for a contact who uses multiple instant messaging protocols with numbers of accounts. Widgets,Buddy list , IM accounts and application settings are synchronized on Digsby’s server, so you can transfer the settings on other computers.

Add Digsby Widget To Chat With Your Blog Visitors

But If you are a blogger then you can credit more advantage of Digsby. The Multiprotocol Instant Messaging application has a very nice featured widget version that allows to  chat with your website visitors.

What you have to do?

1. At first go to the website http://widget.digsby.com/ and give a Title of your widget.
2. Put the nickname that you want to show publicly.
3. Chose your widget color. The color effect will be shown in the right hand side.
4. Fix your widget size.
5. Click on ‘Next’.

Fill up the required filed at the Left hand side in the new window to register and press ‘Submit’

If you have already registered then put the user name and password of your Digsby account in the right hand side and then press ‘Submit’.

You will get the code for your widget in the up coming window.

Copy the code and paste it in your template file (generally Sidebar.php) in appropriate position where you want to show it. You are done!

Just log in to Digsby application and chat with online visitors of your blog.
