Install Font Containing New Indian Currency Symbol

Posted by

In a previous article at Tech-Tips-Geek we discussed about how to create the new Indian Rupees font yourself and use them in any application in Windows. But the problem of the process was that every time you would need to copy the font in clipboard from the Character Map for using in Windows applications.
For convenience of your usage, Tech-Tips-Geek team has modified a font, Indian RS, so that you can use the Indian currency symbol by a single key stroke and won’t be required to copy every time the character when you use.

Download the font “Indian RS”:

1. Download Indian-RS.rar.

2. Download Indian-RS.zip.

How to install the Indian RS font in Windows

After downloading any one of the above archives, just extract that. Now  navigate to C:> Windows> Fonts and paste the extracted font “Indian RS” there or drag and drop the font at that location.

It will show the installation progress.

You are done. Now you can use the font by pressing the key “Shift + 4″.

Note: The new Indian RS font is a modified version of “Georgia” font family. All the characters and symbol has been kept as it was in the original except the ‘$’ sign (Sift + 4). It has been replaced by the new Indian currency(Rupees) symbol.

How to use the font Indian RS

If you want to use the Indian currency(Rupees) symbol, change the font family to “Indian Rs” in your text editor. For example, if your are editing some thing in Notepad and want to use the new symbol then open notepad and go to “Format > Font” or press “Alt + O + F” to open the window that allows to change the font of your text editor.

Now select “Indian RS” by scrolling down the font names under the field “Font”, choose the font style and size then click okay.

Now type any text. To use the Indian rupees symbol press “Shift + 4″.

Let us know if you enjoyed the font by leaving your feedback in the comment section.

Note: This symbol will be shown if the font is installed in the computer.

waste of time, the other computer also needs to install the font or it comes as gibberish

Yes Rahul, you are totally right. The font is new and not in the default font family in Windows. So whenever you want to use any new font, you must install that font in each computer. Hope your time will be not wasted if you want to use the INDIAN RS symbol in any computer in this days. Thank you for your opinion.

Is there any way to change the default $ symbol to INR symbol? Otherwise I agree with Rahul.

There is no way to change the default $ sign in the English key board. Please share if you can find the solution. Thanks for sharing.
