How does Wubi work

• Wubi is an executive(.exe) file supporting Windows 2000/XP/7/Vista.
• When you run the exe file, at first it prompts for the drive where you want to install Ubuntu. You won’t have to modify the partition of your hard disk or any extra boot loader as well. It’ll just add an extra option in the boot menu to boot from Ubuntu.
• When installing, it requires internet connection to download the Linux system. But don’t worry. You won’t have to do anything. Things will happen automatically.
• Wubi installs Ubuntu into single folder at your specified drive. So your Windows remains as like as it is.
• If you want to remove it then uninstall just like other applications.

How to install Ubuntu via Wubi

1. Download Wubi.

2. Run the .exe file and it will open a Window asking the initial settings like installation drive, language, size of the installation location, log-in user name and password, desktop environment etc. Simply select those as your requirement and click on “Install”.

3. Immediately the installation process will start. You may get a security alert. Just allow.

4. Now your roll is finished. All the remaining tasks will be automatically done. It will first download the required files for installation.

5. Wait for some time and follow the post installation instructions onscreen.

You are done! Reboot your system. You will find that an extra boot option of Ubuntu has been added to your boot menu. Select Ubuntu to boot and enjoy!
