Daniel Scocco studied in several countries around the world, including Chile, Italy, Brazil. He received a degree in International Economics and started working for a multinational company. But after one year he decided to pursue entrepreneurial projects on the internet. He started Blogging and website developing in 2005, and he shares what he learned along the way in Daily Blog Tips.
The blog was nominated under the “Best Web Development Blog” category in the 2007 Weblog Awards, and currently it is ranked among the 500 most popular blogs in the world (according to Technorati) and among the 100 most popular marketing blogs in the world (according to AdvertisingAge).
Here is some conversation with him.
1)How long ago you started blogging?
I started blogging back in 2005. Initially I was building simple websites with raw HTML files, but the whole process was very cumbersome. I figured that there should be an easier way to publish content online, and that is when I started researching and came across Blogger and WordPress.
2)Why you started blogging?
I always liked to write and to share my ideas with other people. That is why I started building websites initially, and since I was planning to build websites that would be updated on a regular basis the blog format seemed ideal.
3)What problem you have faced during the management of your blog?
I have been using WordPress since the beginning (after trying Blogger for a couple of months), and it is a great platform, which makes the management process a lot easier.
I have to moderate comments and update the software once in a while, but those are tasks that you need to perform on virtually any platform.
4)Do you think people can earn from blogging?
Definitely. Web publishing is a real business model that will only grow over the years, and blogging is the easiest and simplest form of web publishing.
5)How many guest blogger have you in your blog?
I believe there were over 50 guest blogger already on Daily Blog Tips. Currently I am publishing one guest post per week, on Wednesdays. It is working fine so far, but given the large number of submissions we are starting to get a small queue.
6)What should a new blogger do at first?
First of all think twice before choosing your niche. Why? Because picking the right niche can make a big difference regarding how easy it will be for you to produce quality content and consequently to monetize the blog, if that is what you want.
7)Any tips for the new blogger?
Don’t obsess with monetization too early in the game. It is useless to try to optimize your eCPM if your blog is getting fewer than 1,000 daily unique visitors.
8)At last what is your advise to make a blog popular and successful?
To make you blog successful you need to focus on establishing it as an authority inside its niche. Once you have authority, the rest will follow.
