Microsoft arranged a demo show to compare between the Windows 7 and Windows Vista. They used two identical laptops playing identical  DVD. The result was in the favor of Windows 7. The Windows 7 equipped laptop provided 20% more battery backup than the Window vista featured laptop. As per their conclusion generally one can get 10-20% of extra battery life.

There was another Demo show where Microsoft and Intel showed a reference system that boots up in 11 seconds. It is amazing. But the booting time may vary depending on the installed program and maintenance curriculum.

The main algorithm behind this is the improvement from “timer coalescing”. It allows one processor core to be inactive as long as possible if not in use. “Windows 7 Display Dimming Algorithms” is also another factor.

Microsoft has announced to lunch Windows 7 on 22nd October. The world is waiting for the new Operating System.

Will they successful in their aim and  hold their popularity?
